Saltwort
Glaux maritima
Gaelic name: Lus Bàn-dhearag a' Chladaich

Saltwort is a small trailing plant which is found on the saltmarsh and on rocks at the seashore.
When growing on the saltmarsh saltwort tends to be at the margin where the scurvy grass grows, where the tide generally comes up to when it is full (but usually not as far up the shoreline as the line where the very highest tides come, that is not salty enough).
On a pebble beach saltwort often grows where the pebbles meet the land.
Also known as sea saltwort and sea milkwort.
Saltwort is a native plant of the Western Isles.
