Lesser Stitchwort
Stellaria graminea
Gaelic: Tursarain
Lesser stitchwort grows in some of the sun-dappled areas of the of Creed River woodland in Stornoway Castle grounds.
This wildflower can grow 1 - 3 feet tall. It has bright green narrow leaves.
We also get another species of stitchwort growing in the Western Isles, the bog stitchwort, that one only grows to 18 inches tall and has blue-green leaves.
Lesser stitchwort is a native wildflower of the Western Isles.
