"One of those glorious February days when the chill takes the moisture out of the air and the view becomes very clear. This is my favourite vista from the golf course - looking west.

I can really imagine the game originating in Scotland whenever I see this course.

It is closed on Sunday as is the Stornoway club, but in Lewis when the grass was short in winter one of my neighbours would go out near his house and share the machair with sheep, cows and rabbits and play a few practice balls."

 

The Outer Hebrides are a chain of Islands off the North-West coast of Scotland.
