Hebrides Islands : Stinky Bay, Benbecula

Hebrides Islands : Stinky Bay, Benbecula
A most amazing winter light display over Stinky Bay Benbecula. The real name is pollnacraan named after the Gaelic for ships masts found washed up in the bay. The common name of Stinky is after the mounds of rotting seaweed found there. For me and I suspect others is one of the must visit bays in Benbecula. First it faces West and in the winter it has the most amazing sunsets and light displays and secondly it is a haven for all birds, waders, divers, ducks, gulls the seaweed is alive with birds. The bay in June is also like a nursery with flocks of eiders and shelducks with their young.
