The Project now has a new building erected by the local craft business Croft Turnings run by Kevin MacQueen. We are pleased with the result, but there is still some work to do inside with decorating and outside with applying wood sealant.
It is in keeping with the local surroundings as it has been constructed out of timber. It comprises of a training room, office, shower and toilets including disabled facilities. The training room will be available for hire to other organizations.
The greenhouse is up and running with lots of plants growing on ready to be transplanted out in the tunnels. There various varieties of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squashes, herbs, brassicas and salad crops.
Root crops and onions have been planted in the mesh tunnel and we have a variety of lettuces growing well in the salad tunnel.
Recently the ARCH Project hosted a training event related to all aspects of growing strawberries in a polytunnel which included planting, crop maintenance and taking runners to grow on new plants. LHHP members came with a variety of experience on the subject from beginners through to veteran growers. By the end of the session the tunnel was planted with strawberries. Thanks to all those who took part and made it an event. We look forward to the strawberry harvest.
