Sub-species T.t.hebridensis, our Hebridean Wren is slightly darker and larger than the mainland ones.

Troglodytes means goes in holes!

 

Hebridean Wren records in the Western Isles

Troglodytes troglodytes hebridensis the Hebridean Wren is a common (1000 -10,000 breeding pairs) resident breeder.

Troglodytes troglodytes hirtensis the St Kilda Wren is a farily common resident breeder (100-999 breeding pairs) on St Kilda.
