- UK: Passage visitor, migrant breeder. Arrives late-April - May, leaves mid- July, Continental migrants seen Aug - Sept
- UK: 190,000 pairs (summer). BTO
- WI: Scarce passage visitor (very small numbers each year). Singing have been males heard, but there are no breeding records
- Breeds: West Asia, Europe
- Winters: Central & Southern Africa
- Habitat: Forest edge, glades, deciduous & mixed woodland edges, towns (prefers open areas near trees)
- Very plain warbler, mainly brown-grey above and whitish below, mostly hides in scrub cover
- Diet: Berries, summer insects
- Listen to a Garden Warbler (RSPB site)
