"I am also trying to feed the birds near my garden in Stornoway, I am opposite the castle grounds and so far, I have seen blue tits, great tits, coal tits, green finches, chaffinch, male and female, black bird, thrush, redwing and Hoodies. I attached the fat balls to the barb wire fence next to the empty field and the Hoodies dive bomb them knocking them into the field and having a great time at my expense!!!"

On the chart below the darker the shade of blue the more abundant the Blue Tit is during a month or the more likely you are to see it.

The first Western Isles record of a Blue Tit was in 1956 in Harris.
Since 1996 Blue Tits have been recorded breeding in Stornoway, usually in the Castle grounds. Their numbers are gradually increasing, and their range extending as plantations across the island mature. Only a few sightings each year are made in the Uists.
